Grand Prix at the International Sculpture Contest – Biennal 2006 – Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina

The winning sculpture is Chord by Piotr Twardowski

Excerpt from article The Poles can be proud of you…, The Magazine for Visual Culture – Grafia, No. 3/4 (16/17) 2006: "(…) The international contest in Resistencia attracts artists from the whole world; upon its closure the works produced become the possession of the city".

"(...) Piotr Twardowski puzzled the spectators and jurists with his uncompleted sculpture. The next day all elements were assembled and the jury unanimously awarded him the Grand Prix"

"The leading theme of the 2006 contest was Music, and the material chosen was metal. From the 300 submitted projects 11 were finally selected. The authors were to create sculptures within 7 days. A large audience watched the artists at work".

"The participants of the contest came from eleven countries: Canada, China, France, Great Britain, Japan, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, the United States, Brazil and Argentina, and the jury consisted of: Francisco Gazitua (Chile), Leon Saavedra Geuer (Bolivia) and Roel Teeuween (Holland). A day before closing the Biennial International Sculpture Contest the Pole, Piotr Twardowski, puzzled the spectators and jurists with his uncompleted sculpture. The next day all elements were assembled and the jury unanimously awarded him the Grand Prix. (…)"
